Extreme Youth Leadership |

WHO SHOULD ATTEND EYL TRAINING CAMP? Youth: · Middle or High school students. · Drug-Free and committed to creating a plan of action. · Honest, dependable, responsible and positive. · Representative of the ethnic and cultural diversity in their school. · Mature enough to be away from home. · Aware of social issues facing their community. · Energetic, enthusiastic and able to have FUN! Tips for selecting youth campers: 1. Begin early compiling a list of students/youth who meet the suggested criteria. 2. Ask one or two faculty/staff whose opinion you value to screen your list. 3. Invite all on the final list to be participants. If it’s necessary to make a cut, ask each one to write an essay: “Why I would make a good leader?” 4. Begin immediately to brainstorm with selected participants on fundraising activities to cover cost of registration fees. (Give the youth the opportunity to be a part of raising their own funds to go to camp, this will make them much more invested in the camp experience) Adult Sponsors: · Care about kids. You need to be active in the training camp as well as involved in the implementation of the plans made during the training camp. · Be 21 years old or older · Be a registered participant. There must be 1 adult sponsor for every 10 students. These sponsors must remain at the training camp the entire time. · Be responsible for your youth and their behavior. Also be responsible for room checks at night and wake up calls in the morning. · Chaperone youth on a dorm wing - including your own students and others. · Remain on training campsite throughout the entire camp, especially nights. · Attend ALL training camp activities including Family Group meetings and Team Time meetings. · Cover rules and expectations with your youth. · Handle any disciplinary problems that arise with your youth or others on your wing. We are responsible for each other. |
